The Norwalk 9B Minors Extreme All Stars had a VERY exciting summer and a unbelievably successful season. With a team that consisted of 14 players that had not played with each other and some players not knowing each other, we quickly clicked together becoming a "Baseball Family". Being a first year All Star coach I wasn't sure what to expect. From our very first practice I could see that the talent and ability was there and as our season progressed, it was proven as we progressed as a team. I couldn't be more proud of this group of young players.

We finished the regular Extreme season with a 9-6-1 record. We competed in every game we played and battled very hard as we never gave up. We entered the Extreme Playoffs as a #5 seed out of a 6 team double elimination playoff. After victories against #4 seed Oxford and #1 seed Fairfield National in the first two rounds, we faced #2 seed Woodbury in the winners bracket finals. We played hard but came up short dropping us into the losers bracket final against #1 seed Fairfield National. With a tremendous pitching performance, timely hitting and awesome defense we were able to knock out the the favored #1 seed Fairfield National sending us to the Championships against Woodbury. With playing our 5th game in 7 days, it caught up with us as we dropped the championship game 9-4 giving us the Runners-Up trophy.

I was most proud that none of the kids hung their heads after the loss. We knocked out the #1 team in the league which was a HUGE victory for us as they had beaten us the 2 times we played them during the regular season. I couldn't have been more proud of ALL the kids.

All in all, the kids had a tremendous experience, a great season and most of all, they had FUN!!!

For the season as a team we batted an astonishing .486 from the plate scoring 135 runs in 21 games and finished the season 12-8-1 and finished as the #2 team in the 9B Division.

Thank you to all of my coaches, Bill Brehm, Matt Forte, Tom Strazza, & Billy Rizzo for all of you effort and dedication. All of the Saturday mornings grooming the field, teaching the kids the fundamentals, and your time put in. Couldn't have done it without you guys.

Finally, I would like to personally THANK all of the parents for all your time and sacrifices getting the kids to practice and games and all of your cheering from the sidelines.

Coach Ermo
